Africa per country
The HIV/AIDS pandemic has become one of the most blatant contradictions of the African continent, which is already ravaged by dysfunctions of every kind, thereby making it one of the most deprived regions in the world. This Program aims to bring its modest contribution to the fight Africa and the international community are engaged in to fight efficiently against HIV and AIDS and to reverse the negative trends associated with the pandemic.
The African information sector is one of the poorest in the world at a time when humanmankind is experiencing one of the most extraordinary periods in communications history. Radio, television, newspapers, data banks, multimedia outlets, telephony, submarine cables, satellite communications, digital technology, the Internet: each of these factors has a profound impact on society at large, on global and national economies, technostructure and financial conglomerates.
The Pan-African NGO Aid Transparency has decided to focus its attention on the problematic of transparency in the processes by which international aid is deployed throughout African countries. AT intends to delve deeper into reflection on an alternative perspective on the issue of African workers’ and citizens’ economic rights at a time when the logic of the wide-open market and structural adjustment policies have supplanted true policies fostering sustainable, humane development.
Le rôle stratégique du budget dans les politiques de développement a amené les organisations de la société civile à porter un intérêt grandissant à son mode d’élaboration, d’exécution et de contrôle. L’une des premières exigences des organisations de la société civile est la dissémination de l’information budgétaire qui peut se définir comme la mise à la disposition des citoyens de toutes les informations stratégiques sur les finances publiques.
Les sociétés d’Afrique noire sont de tradition orale, et forment des mosaïques d’ethnies, de langues, de cultures, de religions et de savoir-faire, constituant ainsi un patrimoine ancestral transmis de génération en génération depuis les temps immémoriaux. Ces communautés humaines, riches de leur diversité, vivant sur des aires géographiques, linguistiques et économiques communes ou voisines, sont soudées par une mémoire collective, marquée par l’histoire pré-coloniale et coloniale ainsi que par celle des indépendances.
The policies bearing on gender equality regarding access to services, opportunities and national resources has for the past few decades been one of the bottlenecks of the development aid policies pursued in Africa. No serious observer of the development and democratization process can remain indifferent to the persistence of this problem. It is Aid Transparency’s intention to help remove this obstacle through the following objectives:
Africa accounts for 33 of the 48 least developed countries (LDCs) in the world. A number of economic, financial and social factors mostly linked with the colonial legacy explain this phenomenon. Three sets of factors may explain Africa’s present crisis : a severe debt burden ; unfavorable terms of trade and poor external flows :
