This paper looks at the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) to
assess its adequacy in recognizing and addressing gender issues.
Since NEPAD has a special interest in programmes to create better conditions for
development, in terms of improved democratic process, good governance and human rights,
the paper takes a special interest in whether gender issues are addressed within these
conditions for development.
